Nursery

Nursery School GainsboroughOfsted in October 2008 stated that this Nursery provided a very good standard of education. Children between the ages of 3 and 5 years old attend the Nursery and Kindergarten at Handel House School. They may attend on a sessional basis, either morning, afternoon, a combination of both or on a full time basis.

It is not a playschool but an educational teaching nursery where small classes are held by individual teachers working in a kind and friendly manner.

The Early Years Foundation Stage is important both in its own right and in preparing children for later schooling.

Learning Through Play

Nursery School GainsboroughThrough structured play our children explore and develop their own learning style. This will lead to accumulating a series of experiences and help give them a greater understanding of the world in which they live. They practice and build up ideas, learn self-discipline and control and understand the need for rules.

They have the opportunity to think creatively alongside other pupils as well as on their own. They communicate with others as they investigate and solve problems.

Through a combination of structured learning and constructive play they receive a firm foundation in basic English and mathematical skills as well as science, art, craft, music, physical education, swimming, computing and other general subjects. Most children are able to read and gain pleasure from books by the time they enter the infant department.

Infants

Our Principles

The early years education we offer our pupils is based upon the following principles:

It builds upon what our children already know and can do.

It ensures that no child is excluded or disadvantaged.

It offers a structure for learning that has a range of starting points, a content that matches the needs of young children and activity that provides opportunities for learning both indoors and outdoors.

It provides a rich and stimulating environment.

Computers

Our considerable IT system enables each child to have their own computer during lesson time.
